ABOUT THIS FILE

This redundant edition of the Jargon File was created to demonstrate SK's lexigraphical database tools as well as to implement a handful of specific ideas I've had rattling around since first encountering the file a few years back and examining its self-consciously well structured contents. (See: luser)

The Jargon File was first compiled at Stanford by Raphael Finkel in 1975 and is currently maintained by programmer Eric S. Raymond. The 1996 revision was published in hard form as The New Hacker's Dictionary. The extensive history and tradition of the Jargon File are set forth in detail Here. This database uses the source of the 2003 revision (v 4.4.7) and may or may not be updated to reflect subsequent revisions.
