While acknowledging that there is "something inherently intriguing about a closeted high-end social and political celebrity and the adventures of his shrill, cocaine addicted trophy wife," experts attribute much of the renewed interest in the late couple to the "desolate wasteland" of current celebrity."Yes," observed one celebrity expert, "they were young, rich and pretty. And of course they died 'cute'. But we are talking two major magazine covers and endless print four years after the fact, and I think that speaks to some real desperation on the part of the media and the American public."
A newly published tell-all has served as a platform for much of current round of interest. In addition to recounting the rote list of tragic Kennedy family deaths, the book purports to disclose newly discovered insights into the couple's marriage.
"So she was a high-strung fashion victim, with 'substance abuse issues' and threw a hissy fit at her wedding," another expert clucked. "Like I didn't know that the first time I saw a clear photograph of the girl."
"And yet, still and all, I'd much rather read obvious rehashes of their short troubled marriage than hear another single word about Ben Affleck or Jennifer Lopez."
Other overexposed personalities said to be stiffling the public imagination include Tobey Maguire, an over-the-hill Madonna and a lately bloated Leonardo DiCaprio.
