(Daily Mi: 15.7) Took a nice early sprint up a 700' hill behind the Woodman. He sets a good pace and just keeps going (reminds me we are getting ready for the White Mountains).
Found a two day old register entry from Choo Choo at a shelter where we took our morning break. Indicates she was planning a stop in Kent CT a few miles on to see a doctor about her knees. Kent is a popular stop, about .5 miles off trail and a well known source of overpriced ice cream, but Woodman and I have plenty of supplies and my bounce box is already headed for the next town. So we cross the roadhead w/out stopping.
Awesome hand over hand climb 700' down St. John's Ledges. Meet a couple of older section hikers from D.C. called the Good Guys on the way down. This is the name of a high end strip club downtown, and they acknowledge that it is not a coincidence.
Finished with a very pleasant, fast, flat walk along the Connecticut. Pitched tarps at a site near the shelter and far from a group of 14 scouts. Woodman took a swim in the Connecticut River, but I think that was an exceptionally bad idea.
