(Daily Mi: 14.4) It is a holiday weekend in VT, and the Trail is thick with weekenders. The fun part of this is the look on people's faces when you pass them doing 3-4 mph straight uphill (thank you Woodman).
VT has some awesome trail. There are some steep ups, but mercifully come at less than a 1000' at clip.
Interesting to find that I am really starting to think in terms of altitude change almost more than mileage, scoring my day in terms of hills to climb and feet left to the top (although mileage of course counts)
Find Spyder and the Marine just waking up at a shelter about seven miles into the hike and stop for a chat.
Hit Goddard at around 3 pm. Stout has beaten me in by about a half hour. Mathew comes in just behind me, and I must say is in impressive shape for a guy just getting on the Trail.
Glad I am in early as it is a very crowded shelter and eventually about five hikers past capacity.
