(Daily Mi: 16.9) Some rough terrain today. The first 100 miles of Maine is supposed to be rough, and so far it is true.
Lots of unswitched bony climbs and descents. Crusader and I hiked pretty much hand-in-glove. Really push each other to the keep up the pace. Very pretty up on the ridges. Timberline is somewhere around 2500' here and there are lots of open -- windy -- views.
Caught back up to GANJ at the shelter. We are in with a group of American teenage boy campers and a group of Canadian teenage girl campers. They are all much too shy to directly interact. Funny to watch.
