(Daily Mi: 14.4) Very knobby climb down off of the Bigelows. It was plenty windy crossing Avery Peak, but it has been pretty darn hot of late down off the ridge line, and was pretty close to opressive for most of the day.

Took a long break for lunch to rehydrate at the 7 mile shelter and then found a spot to rinse clothes and take swim a short ways on.

Thankfully, there was swimming at West Carry Pond near the shelter as well. Wish I had my 55 degree travel sack instead of my 20 degree bag as it looks like it is going to stay hot again tonight.

Crusader has a coil of instect repellant he burns in the shelter. Seems to work although we are also getting fairly late in already dry summer.<br />
